Iran says the Strait of Hormuz will reopen only if US forces leave the Middle East, or be expelled.

Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia posted the ultimatum on X on Friday, October 16.

“If it doesn’t leave, we’ll expel it,” he wrote, pairing the offer with a blunt warning.

He also claimed Iran’s air defences now far surpass their pre-war and wartime levels.

The statement does not confirm a new military operation or any agreement to reopen the strait.

Brent crude briefly touched $110 a barrel, its highest since May, before closing at $109.86.

WTI climbed more than 10 percent for the week as traders priced in a prolonged disruption.
