The Lakers and Bucks have held exploratory talks on a Dalton Knecht trade, insider Jake Fischer reports.

The framework would send Knecht and second-round draft capital to Milwaukee for center Jericho Sims.

Fischer also heard pessimism from sources briefed on the talks that the deal will go through.

The Lakers carry 16 standard contracts and must cut to 15 by 2 p.m. Pacific on October 19.

A one-for-one swap would not fix that math, so another move or third team may be needed.

If no deal comes, Los Angeles may simply waive the 25-year-old, letting him sign anywhere.

The Mavericks and Celtics have also shown interest in Knecht, Hoops Wire reported.
