Los Tigres del Norte’s Tiny Desk concert sparked a backlash after its pro-immigrant introduction was cut on YouTube.

The roughly 20-minute session premiered October 15 as part of NPR’s Latin Music Month.

Producer Felix Contreras’s tearful intro said, “Nuestra comunidad esta bajo ataque” — our community is under attack.

His full remarks stayed on NPR’s website and Instagram but were missing from the YouTube video.

The omission set off accusations of censorship and a debate over public media and politics.

The five-song set opened with the immigrant anthem “Somos Mas Americanos.”

It was the legendary norteño band’s debut on the Tiny Desk series.
