Donald Trump has waived sanctions and duties that would have hit India and other big buyers of Russian oil.

His Friday executive order activates and immediately suspends key parts of the Graham Act of 2026.

The law required duties of up to 100 percent on top buyers of Russian oil by October 18.

It also set a 500 percent increase in duties on goods from Russia itself.

Section 4 of the order suspends those duties and most of the law’s sanctions on foreign persons.

Trump told Congress the waiver is in the national interest of the United States.

The move brought visible relief in New Delhi, where officials had braced for the worst.
