Typhoon Champi could become one of the strongest storms on Earth this year, forecasters warn.
It formed Thursday about 895 miles east of Guam, the FOX Forecast Center said.
Champi is forecast to pass near Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands on Sunday.
It is expected to be the equivalent of a Category 2 hurricane at that point.
Typhoon watches were issued for both US territories early Thursday.
Google DeepMind’s model gives it a 99 percent chance of becoming a super typhoon.
It gives a 33 percent chance of matching the year’s strongest storm, with 185 mph winds.
