Netflix has removed chief content officer Bela Bajaria after a decade at the company.

Former Disney and Fox executive Peter Rice replaces her as content chief.

The shakeup coincides with layoffs of about 1,000 employees, roughly 6 percent of staff.

These layoffs are the largest job cut in Netflix’s entire history.

Co-CEO Ted Sarandos credited her with expanding unscripted shows, live events and sports.

Bajaria joined in 2016 from NBCUniversal, where she ran Universal Television.

She became head of global TV in 2020 and chief content officer in January 2023.
