Producer Ektaa Kapoor says “Hinduphobia” exists in Bollywood, questioning why folklore-based stories face resistance.

She made the remarks on The Ranveer Show, the podcast hosted by Ranveer Allahbadia.

Ektaa Kapoor said the industry is comfortable with animation but hesitant about folklore and mythology.

She recalled being asked why she “dressed like a freak” for wearing a tika and a sacred thread when she was younger.

Allahbadia noted she had also been labelled a “tantrik” because of her religious practices.

Her film The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest draws on Bihar’s folklore around the Maa Van Devi Temple near Patna.

The Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia film has earned Rs 69.36 crore net in India and Rs 90.01 crore worldwide.

Balaji Telefilms has partnered with YouTube on five original shows, and The Dirty Picture 2 is in development.
