India is on course to beat its 2003-2007 record of five straight years of 7% or higher growth.

Economist Kyunghoon Kim of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy made the analysis.

Since 2021, India has averaged 7.83% annual growth, the second-highest five-year average since 1960.

After a 5.8% pandemic contraction, the economy rebounded 9.7% in 2021 and has stayed above 7% since.

After 7.8% growth in the June quarter, most global institutions now project about 7% this year.

The IMF raised its 2026-27 forecast to 7%, up from 6.4% in July.

The World Bank and Reserve Bank of India now estimate 7.1% growth.

India’s GDP has grown from just over $1 trillion in 2007 to nearly $4 trillion, so each 7% adds far more.
