Rayo Racing’s Krish Gupta won his first National Rotax Karting title in the Senior Category in Bengaluru.

He fought back from 16th in qualifying in the sixth and final round at the Kartopia Circuit.

Gupta finished on 428 points, ahead of Arjun Chheda on 415 and Akshat Misra on 414.

He made 10 overtakes in each of two heats, finishing sixth in both.

In the pre-final he jumped from sixth to second, then finished third in the final.

The title earns him a place representing India at the Rotax World Finals in Portimão, Portugal.

The world event runs November 7 to 14, with 432 racers from more than 60 nations expected.

“It feels great to finally be a National Champion,” Gupta said, thanking his parents, team and mechanics.
