Nscale is in talks to sell AI computing power to Anthropic in a new deal worth about $45 billion, a source told Reuters.

It follows an August deal in which Anthropic agreed to spend $45 billion renting compute at Nscale’s West Virginia campus.

A second Monarch building would deliver 460 megawatts using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin AI chips, the source said.

Anthropic also has the right of first refusal on Monarch’s expected third building.

The source said talks were ongoing and details could change. Anthropic did not immediately comment.

Bloomberg, which first reported the news, said some investors urged Anthropic to lower its IPO valuation target.

Nscale’s contracted value has grown from $100 million to more than $103 billion in two and a half years.

Microsoft recently pulled out of a deal to anchor a flagship Nscale data centre after power connection delays.
