Sacramento Kings guard Ben Simmons will miss the entire 2026-27 NBA season after tearing his Achilles.
He suffered the injury in practice on Oct. 18, on the eve of the season, the New York Post reported.
Teammate Keegan Murray called it “probably the worst thing I’ve seen on the basketball court.”
Simmons was expected to play a meaningful role with his size, playmaking and defensive versatility.
Achilles tears carry long rehab timelines, measured in months rather than weeks.
Simmons is a former No. 1 overall pick and multiple-time All-Star whose career has been hit by injuries.
His move to Sacramento had been framed as a fresh start, and the Kings must now redistribute his minutes.
