A woman who made crude remarks about PM Narendra Modi at a “Cockroach” protest is being harassed and afraid to leave home.

The Guardian reported her ordeal on Tuesday, highlighting the backlash facing protesters.

The movement began with Abhijeet Dipke’s viral reply to the Chief Justice likening unemployed youth to “cockroaches.”

His post spawned the satirical Cockroach Janta Party, whose protests preceded education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s July resignation.

On October 10, Dipke called a Delhi protest demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign over a voter roll purge.

Police detained Dipke and others, including Dhruv Rathee, Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav.

The UN and Amnesty International have criticised the treatment of protesters.
