President Donald Trump is scheduled to travel to Chillicothe, Ohio, on Wednesday, Oct. 28, for a Chillicothe rally in the final week before the Nov. 3 midterm elections, according to the White House schedule and the Republican National Committee event listing. The schedule puts his remarks in Chillicothe at 7 p.m., after a day in Washington that includes a greeting for the Artemis III crew at 1:30 p.m. in the Oval Office.

Chillicothe rally schedule and venue

The Chillicothe rally listing gives doors at 3:30 p.m., a program beginning at 5:30 p.m. and Trump’s remarks at 7 p.m. The venue is the Shoemaker Center at Ohio University Chillicothe, 101 University Drive, according to the event listing and local reporting. The listing had first shown only the city, with the venue marked as to be announced, before it was updated to name the Shoemaker Center.

Tickets for the Chillicothe rally are free, but registration is required through the official event page, according to the listing. Sign-ups are limited to four tickets per person, and registrants must confirm by text message before their tickets are valid. The Shoemaker Center holds about 2,400 spectators, according to local reporting of the venue.

Chillicothe rally and the Ohio races

The Chillicothe rally comes six days before Ohio voters go to the polls on Nov. 3, according to the Republican National Committee listing and local reporting. Ohio voters will decide a special election for the United States Senate and a race for governor, along with other offices further down the ballot. Early voting is already under way in Ohio.

Local reporting described the Chillicothe rally as the latest in a series of Ohio stops in recent weeks, following rallies in Youngstown and Dayton and a stop in northern Kentucky. The Republican National Committee announced the Chillicothe stop on Oct. 21, according to local reporting. The announcement cast the visit as a bid to shore up support for Republican candidates in the state in the last days of the campaign.

Chillicothe rally travel and closures

Chillicothe police say drivers heading to the Chillicothe rally should expect heavier traffic and some road closures around the campus on Wednesday, although the specific closures beyond those announced by the city had not been published in full. The city said in a Facebook post that the City Park Annex, Kopp Street and the Paint Creek Recreational Trail and flood wall, from Kopp Street to the Riverside Street access ramp, will be closed from noon to 9 p.m. on Wednesday because of the president’s visit.

Additional closures for the Chillicothe rally will occur throughout the day as needed, the city said, and it urged drivers to plan accordingly. Southern Ohio Career Academy announced an early dismissal at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday because of the anticipated traffic and road closures, according to local reporting. Ohio University Chillicothe posted on Monday that the Shoemaker Center will be closed for an event rental through Wednesday, without naming the event in that post.
