The Denver Broncos beat the Kansas City Chiefs 28-24 on Sunday, stopping them four times inside the 10-yard line in the final seconds.

The result gave Sean Payton his 200th career win, counting postseason games.

Denver now leads the AFC West at 6-2. Kansas City fell to 5-2 after a second straight loss.

The Broncos trailed 24-13 in the fourth quarter, then scored 15 straight points for their fourth comeback win of the season.

Harrison Butker missed a 54-yard field goal wide right with 2:31 left, just after Alex Singleton sacked Patrick Mahomes.

Butker has missed 6 of 17 field goal tries this season, and the Chiefs signed Justin Tucker to the practice squad last week.

Denver needed two plays and 35 seconds to go ahead. Jonah Coleman's 51-yard catch-and-run set up his own 5-yard touchdown run.

Bo Nix finished 20 of 32 for 222 yards and two touchdowns, and went 5 of 6 for 84 yards in the fourth quarter.

Kansas City had first-and-goal at the 4 with 35 seconds left. Kenneth Walker ran to the 1, Mahomes threw incomplete and Walker was then stopped for no gain.

On the last play, after a false start, Malcolm Roach sacked Mahomes to end the game.

Mahomes threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns, and the Chiefs outgained Denver 399 yards to 294.
