Silver crashed Rs 10,879 to Rs 2,08,338 per kg on the MCX on October 14, then rebounded the next day.

The trigger was US September inflation of 3.7 per cent, above the expected 3.6 per cent.

Odds of a Fed rate hike this month jumped from about 22 per cent to as high as 54 per cent.

That lifted the dollar and Treasury yields, crushing precious metals, which offer no yield.

MCX gold fell Rs 2,602 to Rs 1,45,848 per 10 grams before bouncing back toward Rs 1,47,400.

On October 15, silver recovered to trade near Rs 2,09,200 as the dollar and bond yields eased.

Analysts say silver stays more vulnerable than gold to hawkish surprises from the Fed.

Next tests include US producer prices, remarks from Fed Chair Warsh and the October 27-28 Fed meeting.
