Judge Carrie Ann Inaba flagged an illegal lift in Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson’s DWTS samba.

The clash happened live on ABC during Tuesday’s “Super Bowl Night” episode.

Inaba read a printed definition: a lift is when a dancer has both feet off the floor with support.

In the routine, troupe dancers hoisted Shum Jr. into the air as he did a backflip.

Lifts are banned in samba and other Latin styles but allowed in jazz and contemporary.

Johnson said she thought the rule applied only when partners lift each other.

Despite the critique, the pair scored 33 out of 40 and advanced.
