Box Office Theory projects that Ebenezer, Johnny Depp's new take on A Christmas Carol, will open to $17 million to $24 million in North America.

Paramount releases the film in theaters on November 13, 2026. It cost a reported $38 million to make.

Depp plays Scrooge, the miser who is visited by ghosts and made to face his past, present and future.

Ti West directs the film. He is known for the horror films X and The Innkeepers.

Ebenezer is Depp's first major studio movie in years, after a period spent mostly on smaller films outside the Hollywood studios.

Depp appeared at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026 for a surprise reveal of the trailer.

The film opens a week before Thanksgiving weekend, so it can keep playing through December if audiences take to it.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping opens on November 20, one week after Ebenezer.

A $17 million start would be soft for a wide holiday release, while $24 million would be a solid result at this budget.

Weekend estimates on November 15 will show where the opening lands.
