The Trump administration has quietly reinstated some people whose ACA health plans were wrongly cancelled in a fraud crackdown.
The sweep cut 760,000 people from Affordable Care Act rolls late last month, KFF Health News reported.
In June, CMS flagged nearly 1.2 million HealthCare.gov enrollments showing four warning signs of possible fraud.
Signs included a missing Social Security number, a broker sign-up, no premium paid and no insurer contact or claims.
Anyone who did not respond to outreach within 30 days was dropped from coverage.
Critics say real people were caught simply for missing a letter or a phone call.
Blue Cross Blue Shield confirmed some of its members were reinstated, and CMS offers an expedited review.
A second phase is now scrutinising another 419,000 sign-ups, with results due after the midterm elections.
