No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa rolled his ankle and left the Wizards’ preseason finale against the Pelicans.
The 19-year-old landed on the side of his foot after contact from Zion Williamson on a jumper.
He did not return, and the team has not yet said how serious the injury is.
Dybantsa had 12 points, two rebounds and a block in 14 minutes before leaving.
Washington lost the game 107-106 in the final seconds at the Smoothie King Center.
He walked to the locker room under his own power, an encouraging early sign.
The Wizards open the regular season at home against the Bucks on Wednesday, October 21.
