Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai is in doubt for Thursday night’s game against the Patriots with turf toe and a thumb issue.

He has missed the past two games, a Week 5 loss to Green Bay and Sunday’s 31-23 win over Atlanta.

Head coach Ben Johnson calls the injury week-to-week and says the Bears do not plan to place Monangai on injured reserve.

In Week 4 against the Jets, Monangai ran 30 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns, his best game yet.

Through four games he has 324 rushing yards, three touchdowns and 5.4 yards per carry.

Without him, the Bears managed 81 rushing yards against Green Bay and 98 yards in Atlanta.

After Thursday, Chicago gets 11 days off before visiting Seattle on November 2, a more realistic return target.

Both the Bears and Patriots enter Thursday at 4-2, with New England on a three-game winning streak.
