Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman will miss New Zealand's ODI series against India this month as both recover from injuries.
Ravindra is coming back from a shoulder injury. Chapman is recovering from a hamstring problem.
New Zealand made the announcement on November 2, two days before the first match of the five-game series.
The ODIs run from November 4 to November 15, starting at Eden Park in Auckland.
India arrive after winning the five-match T20I series 3-2. They won the first three games and lost the last two.
After the ODIs, the two sides play a two-match Test series starting on November 19.
Ravindra bats in the top order and bowls left-arm spin, so New Zealand lose a player who can change a match with bat or ball.
Chapman is a left-handed batter in New Zealand's white-ball plans. Without him, the hosts need middle-order runs from someone else.
The Reuters report on the announcement did not name replacements for either player.
India head coach Gautam Gambhir praised captain Shreyas Iyer for leading a young bowling attack in unfamiliar conditions during the T20Is.
Gambhir has said bowlers often decide ODI and Test series away from home.
