Indian national sports federations can now get up to Rs 50 crore to host international events.
That is a twenty-five-fold increase on the Rs 2 crore previously available.
The change comes under the sports ministry’s revised assistance scheme for federations.
Funds cover equipment, timing, scoring, results services and technical officials’ pay.
A committee headed by the Sports Secretary will assess each proposal.
The top Rs 50 crore slab goes to sports where India won medals or finished top 10 at Olympics or Worlds.
A Rs 20 crore slab covers sports where India finished inside the top 16.
