India's space industry, worth about $13 billion, could reach $40 billion by 2030 and become the world's third largest, an Arkam Ventures report says.

The report says India's space industry is growing at twice the pace of the global market.

More than 300 space startups emerged in India over the past five years, and nearly 400 were active by mid-2026.

Private investment in the sector totals about $600 million so far. Startups raised nearly $256 million in 2026.

The report forecasts a further $3.5 billion in venture capital and private equity investment over the next five years.

It credits the 2020 space reforms, access to ISRO facilities and technology transfers. NSIL has signed 83 transfer agreements with private firms.

Skyroot Aerospace flew India's first private suborbital mission in 2022 and test-fired its Kalam-1200 booster in August 2025.

Agnikul Cosmos built a single-piece 3D-printed rocket engine, Pixxel is building hyperspectral satellites and GalaxEye has launched its OptoSAR satellite.

The report says the target is not guaranteed and will need sustained investment, regulatory certainty and new infrastructure.
