Sony is bringing AI upscaling to the base PlayStation 5, not only the more expensive model.
The company announced Quality Spatial Super Resolution, or QSSR, on the PlayStation Blog.
QSSR rebuilds lower-resolution frames into sharper output and is meant to support frame rate and resolution.
The PlayStation 5 Pro already uses PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, which relies on specialized hardware.
The base console's QSSR approach is software-driven, the article says.
Sony says players should see cleaner edges and fewer artifacts in supported games.
Developers can patch existing titles and use the tool on new games.
The piece says the goal is to keep the large base PS5 audience from being left behind.
