Tesla has unveiled its second-generation Roadster, nearly nine years after first showing a prototype.
At an event near Waco, Texas, the car launched off a ramp and flipped in midair.
Compressed-air thrusters developed with SpaceX lifted and spun the car.
It uses ten nozzles linked to 600 litres of compressed air, engineering VP Lars Moravy said.
Elon Musk said Tesla will build the Roadster in 2028 but did not name a price.
Three trims are planned, all with a 300-mile range and top speeds over 230 mph.
The Thrust trim promises 0 to 60 mph in under one second.
