US plans for new strikes on Iran include the “mother of all bombs,” CNN and CBS News report.

The GBU-43/B MOAB is the largest non-nuclear bomb in the American arsenal.

It could be used on nuclear and energy sites if Trump orders combat to resume.

Plans for the suspected underground site Pickaxe Mountain specify the MOAB, CNN said.

The bomb weighs about 9.8 tonnes and detonates in the air for a wide blast.

It was first used in combat in April 2017 against an Islamic State cave complex in Afghanistan.

Its use against Iran would mark a significant escalation of the conflict.
