Tata’s passenger vehicle sales grew 35 percent to 7.44 lakh units in the year after its demerger.

That far outpaced the industry’s roughly 22 percent growth from October 2025 to September 2026.

Tata became India’s second-largest carmaker, with a 14.1 percent market share.

“We had not expected 35 percent,” said managing director Shailesh Chandra.

The Nexon sold 2.38 lakh units and the Punch 2.33 lakh, about 63 percent of volumes.

The Sierra crossed 60,000 units from January to September despite supply limits.

The passenger business was separated from commercial vehicles on October 1, 2025.
