External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is travelling to Atlanta this week for G20 foreign ministers talks and a Quad meeting.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will host the G20 meeting on October 30 and 31. The Quad foreign ministers will meet on the sidelines.

The US holds the G20 presidency this year. Freedom of navigation, energy and food security, and supply chains top its agenda.

Members are expected to raise the US decision to exclude South Africa from the G20 this year over bilateral tensions.

Russia criticised the exclusion, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz urged the US to reverse it. India has not commented.

An Indian official said India has always supported an inclusive G20.

There is also interest in whether Rubio meets Russia's Sergei Lavrov and China's Wang Yi together. No such meeting had been confirmed.

Atlanta is the last major G20 ministerial before the leaders summit, which Trump will host at Trump National Doral in Miami on December 14 and 15.

PM Narendra Modi will visit Canada, the US and then Brussels, where he is set to sign the India-EU free trade deal on December 16.
