Motorola will launch its new flagship phone, the Signature 27, around the world on 5 November. The company confirmed the date on X on 29 October, after showing the phone at the Snapdragon Summit in September and at the India Mobile Congress. The Signature 27 is the company's new premium handset, and it arrives with a top-end chip, a large camera setup and a promise of seven years of software updates. Motorola has not shared the price or the full specification sheet yet.

The phone was first shown at Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit towards the end of September, after several days of teasers. Motorola announced it on 22 September and has held back the full specs and pricing since then. A post on X said only that the phone was "elegantly crafted for comfort" and told followers to see it for themselves on 5 November. The handset has since appeared in a hands-on video made in partnership with the company, which showed the device in both of its colours.

Motorola fits a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme chip

The Signature 27 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, which Motorola has already confirmed. The chip is cooled by an ArcticMesh system with a vapour chamber 40 percent larger than the previous generation's. A Geekbench 7 listing for the phone showed 3,313 points in the single-core test and 11,088 in the multi-core test, running on the QTI SM8975 chip with eight cores. The listing came from a unit made before launch, so the final phone may score differently, and the test showed about 10.94 GB of free memory.

The phone carries up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage, according to the hands-on video and early listings. The screen is a 6.8-inch panel, and reports describe it as a 165 Hz AMOLED display. The battery size is still a mystery: one report puts it at 7,000 mAh, but the company has not confirmed a figure. The phone runs Android 17 out of the box, and the company has promised seven years of operating system updates.

Motorola pairs a 200MP periscope with a 50MP main

The camera setup is built around three lenses. The main camera is a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 910 sensor with optical image stabilisation, and the periscope telephoto camera is 200 megapixels with up to 100x digital zoom. A 50-megapixel ultrawide camera completes the set, and the phone also carries an action sensor. Audio comes from Bang and Olufsen, with at least one speaker mounted underneath the rear cover. The phone comes in two Pantone colours, Coal Smoke with a woven surface and Capulet Olive with a brushed finish that looks like fabric.

The Signature 27 is also the first phone outside Google's Pixel range to support GrapheneOS officially, the open-source operating system built around security and privacy. That detail was reported in early coverage of the phone. It gives buyers a second operating system option, which is unusual for a flagship sold through normal retail channels. The company has not said whether the GrapheneOS support will be available in every market where the phone is sold.

Motorola has not confirmed the Signature 27 price

Pricing is the biggest open question. A listing from Portuguese retailer MegaPC put the phone at 1,594.90 euros for a model with 12 GB of memory and 512 GB of storage, which converts to about 1,770 dollars. That figure should be treated with care, since it comes from a retailer listing and the company has not confirmed it. The price would be more than 50 percent above the original Motorola Signature, which makes the listing look high even for a flagship. India pricing and availability are still awaited, and the full specification sheet should come on 5 November.

The launch lands in a busy month for new devices, with Asus also launching its Zenbook 14 series in India on 5 November. For Motorola, the Signature 27 is a return to the top end of the market with its own name on the front, rather than a sub-brand. The chip, the cameras and the seven-year update promise are all confirmed. The price, the battery size and the sale dates are the details still to come, and they should be known once the launch event is done.
