The B-52s Walk of Fame ceremony takes place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, when the band will receive the 2,861st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. Pacific time at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of Amoeba Music, and it will be streamed live on the official Walk of Fame website.
The band will receive the B-52s Walk of Fame star in the Recording category. SiriusXM radio personality Richard Blade, himself a Walk of Fame recipient, will emcee the event, with musician, actor and comedian Fred Armisen and The Go-Go’s appearing as guest speakers. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Walk of Fame for the City of Los Angeles, announced the ceremony in advance.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome the B-52s to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” said Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer, in the announcement. “Honoring The B-52s with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a celebration of their unforgettable music, fearless spirit, and the nostalgia they’ve created for generations of fans. Their unique sound and energy have truly become part of Hollywood’s musical history.”
How the B-52s Walk of Fame ceremony will run
Fans who cannot attend the B-52s Walk of Fame ceremony in person can watch the event live at walkoffame.com. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has hosted star ceremonies for decades, and the Walk of Fame has drawn visitors from around the world since 1960. The B-52s star will be the 2,861st placed on Hollywood Boulevard.
The Go-Go’s have a direct link to the B-52s Walk of Fame honour. The band received its own Walk of Fame star in 2011, and its members will now speak at a ceremony for a band from the same new wave generation. Both groups came to prominence as American pop and rock opened up to new voices and stage presences in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The band behind the B-52s Walk of Fame star
The B-52s formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1976. The original lineup was Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson, Ricky Wilson and Keith Strickland. Their early songs, including “Rock Lobster”, “Planet Claire”, “Private Idaho” and “Dance This Mess Around”, gave them a sound built on surf guitar, dance rhythms and unusual vocal arrangements, and an image that stood apart from much of mainstream radio.
Why the B-52s Walk of Fame honour arrives now
Walk of Fame officials first picked the B-52s as part of the Class of 2025, a group that also named Depeche Mode, Green Day, The Isley Brothers, George Strait, Keith Urban, WAR and Prince, putting the B-52s Walk of Fame honour in the works for over a year. The ceremony date was set for October 29, 2026, almost 50 years after the band formed in Athens.
For a band that started in the Athens underground in 1976, the B-52s Walk of Fame star at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard puts its name on the pavement in front of a record store, in the Recording category, with fellow musicians speaking on its behalf. The ceremony starts at 11:30 a.m. Pacific time on October 29.
