The ranabaali box office story entered a crucial phase on Monday as Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s period drama collected Rs 5.40 crore net in India on its fourth day, taking its worldwide gross collection to Rs 43.85 crore, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The film, which released in theatres on 16 October to mixed reviews, is now eyeing the Rs 50 crore worldwide mark as the Dussehra holiday approaches.

Monday’s collection represented a 28 per cent decline from Sunday’s Rs 7.50 crore, a drop that was broadly expected as the film moved into the working week. The period drama was screened across 2,186 shows on its fourth day, registering an overall occupancy of around 44 per cent. Its total India net collection after four days stands at Rs 29.45 crore, while the India gross collection has reached Rs 34.35 crore.

Overseas, the film added Rs 50 lakh on Monday, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 9.50 crore. Combined with the domestic gross, the worldwide gross collection of Rs 43.85 crore leaves the film within touching distance of the Rs 50 crore milestone, though its weekday trajectory will decide how quickly it gets there.

Ranabaali Box Office Day-Wise Breakdown

Ranabaali opened on Friday, 16 October, with Rs 9.25 crore net in India, a decent start for a period drama facing stiff competition. Collections fell to Rs 7.30 crore on Saturday, a decline of around 21.1 per cent, before recovering slightly to Rs 7.50 crore on Sunday, an increase of approximately 2.7 per cent over Saturday. Monday’s Rs 5.40 crore completed the four-day run at Rs 29.45 crore net domestically.

State-wise data underlines where the film’s strength lies. Andhra Pradesh remained the biggest contributor on Day 4 with Rs 1.72 crore at 44.2 per cent occupancy, followed closely by Telangana with Rs 1.65 crore. Karnataka contributed Rs 39.53 lakh, while Tamil Nadu, despite a smaller footprint, recorded an impressive 63.6 per cent occupancy.

Ranabaali Box Office and the First Monday Test

The first Monday is traditionally the sternest test of a film’s commercial legs, and Ranabaali’s 28 per cent drop sits in the acceptable range for a film that opened to mixed reviews. The real question is whether the Dussehra holiday on Tuesday, 20 October, can reverse the slide. Holiday footfalls have historically rescued films with soft weekdays, and the period drama’s family-friendly positioning could work in its favour.

Some trade trackers have reported marginally different figures, with one estimate pegging Monday’s net at Rs 4.97 crore and the four-day domestic total at Rs 29.02 crore, but the broad picture is consistent: a solid opening followed by a steady, if unspectacular, hold through the first weekend.

Cast, Director and the Story Behind the Film

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali marks his third collaboration with Vijay Deverakonda after Taxiwaala and Shyam Singha Roy. The film also reunites Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna for the third time after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, and notably marks their first on-screen pairing since their wedding in February, a factor that has added to the film’s curiosity value.

Set against the backdrop of the Great Famine of 1876-78, the film imagines a fight against British colonial rule, blending historical texture with commercial storytelling. Whether the Rs 50 crore milestone arrives this week or next, the film’s performance will be watched closely as a barometer for mid-budget period dramas in an increasingly crowded theatrical marketplace.

Occupancy trends through Monday told a familiar story of the working week. The film started with 26.08 per cent occupancy in morning shows, rising to 51.85 per cent in the afternoon before easing to 47.62 per cent in the evening and 49.77 per cent at night, for an overall rate of 43.83 per cent across 2,186 shows. The afternoon peak suggests the film is drawing family audiences in its core Telugu markets, a base the Dussehra holiday could expand significantly on Tuesday.

For Vijay Deverakonda, the film carries additional significance as his first release since his wedding to co-star Rashmika Mandanna in February, and his third collaboration with director Rahul Sankrityan following Taxiwaala and Shyam Singha Roy. Their earlier partnerships give the pairing a proven track record, and the industry will be watching whether it holds through the holiday week.
