Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on October 30 and 31 to launch and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 14,400 crore, with a focus on agriculture, transport infrastructure, rural development and tourism. During the Gujarat visit, he will also release around Rs 19,000 crore as the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), providing financial assistance to farmers across the country.
The main programmes of the Gujarat visit are scheduled in Banaskantha district and at Ekta Nagar in Narmada district, near the Statue of Unity. On October 31, the Prime Minister will participate in Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The two-day programme combines project launches, a farmer assistance release and the Unity Day events into a single itinerary.
Gujarat visit opens with cattle research centre
In Banaskantha, Modi will dedicate the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre (BBBRC) at Bhildi to the nation. The 127-acre facility is designed to advance bovine breeding, genetic improvement and reproductive technologies, and the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the centre’s cattle farm and its Embryo Transfer Technology-In Vitro Fertilisation laboratory at around 9.30 am on Friday.
Modi said on Thursday that the centre would help improve milk production, strengthen indigenous cattle breeds and increase farmers’ incomes. In a post on social media platform X, he said the centre would help farmers through more milk per animal, better quality breeds and higher incomes, while contributing to the conservation of indigenous cattle breeds such as Kankrej. The centre is being established as a Centre of Excellence focused on bovine breeding, genetic improvement and advanced reproductive technologies.
The Gujarat visit also includes two Bio-CNG plants being developed by Banas Dairy at Tharad and Radhanpur, which will process cattle dung and produce cleaner fuel. The Tharad plant will process 75 metric tonnes of cattle dung per day, and the Radhanpur plant will handle 100 metric tonnes per day. Modi will dedicate 521 projects completed under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund to the nation, with a combined project cost of around Rs 4,950 crore, covering cold storage facilities, cold chains, warehouses, silos, polyhouses and greenhouses. He will also launch 12 approved horticulture clusters covering about 1.46 lakh hectares and expected to benefit more than 1.3 lakh farmers.
Gujarat visit adds metro, rail and road projects
On the infrastructure front of the Gujarat visit, Modi will lay the foundation stone for the extension of Ahmedabad Metro Phase-2 to the airport and GIFT City, and for the widening of the Ahmedabad-Mehsana Road, or State Highway-41, from four lanes to eight lanes at an estimated cost of Rs 2,600 crore. He will flag off the Ahmedabad (Sabarmati)-Varanasi Express and the Mehsana-Becharaji-Sabarmati MEMU train service to strengthen regional rail links.
In social infrastructure, Modi will lay the foundation stone for 4,030 new child-friendly Anganwadi centres and inaugurate 361 completed centres across Gujarat, with a total investment of Rs 800 crore expected to benefit more than four lakh people. The release of the 24th PM-KISAN instalment will provide financial assistance of around Rs 19,000 crore to more than nine crore farmer families across the country, continuing a transfer programme that has run since 2019.
Gujarat visit closes with Ekta Diwas at Ekta Nagar
Later on October 30, during the Gujarat visit, Modi will travel to Ekta Nagar, where he will inaugurate Bharat Parv 2026 at around 5 pm, a cultural festival presenting the traditions, cuisine, handicrafts and tourist attractions of states and Union Territories. On October 31, he will offer floral tributes at the Statue of Unity before inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for projects worth more than Rs 400 crore in Ekta Nagar.
Those works include a sewage and water treatment plant, facade lighting, the upgradation of Narmada Ghat, an IRCTC hotel and the Rainforest, Unity and Eco Trail. He will also lay the foundation stone for the development of Gora-Bhandra Road, an integrated zero-waste smart solid waste management system, Khalwani eco-tourism and the integrated development of the Cactus and Butterfly Garden. The Gujarat visit will conclude with the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations on October 31, commemorating Patel’s 151st birth anniversary.
