AK 47 led the Indian weekend box office from 30 October to 1 November, taking Rs 31.40 crore net in its first three days and finishing ahead of Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. Sacnilk reported the weekend figures on 2 November, placing Venkatesh’s Telugu film at the top of a five film ranking headed by two long running releases and two newer titles.
The weekend total for AK 47 came from a rising daily trend. The film took Rs 9.75 crore net on Friday 30 October across 3,073 shows, Rs 10.40 crore net on Saturday 31 October across 3,192 shows, and Rs 11.25 crore net on Sunday 1 November across 3,273 shows. Each day improved on the one before, with Saturday up 6.7 percent on Friday and Sunday up 8.2 percent on Saturday, according to Sacnilk’s daily collection reports.
AK 47 is the short title for Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47, a Telugu film starring Venkatesh. Sacnilk links its opening weekend to the combination of Venkatesh and Trivikram, and notes that the film performed strongly in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Hyderabad was the top city for advance booking on Monday 2 November, with Rs 59.70 lakh in advance bookings including blocked seats, according to the tracker’s day four report.
AK 47 and the weekend ranking
The full weekend top five, as reported by Sacnilk, was led by AK 47 at Rs 31.40 crore net, followed by Jailer 2 at Rs 26.40 crore net. Ayushmann Khurrana’s Udta Teer took third place with Rs 11.20 crore net, Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3: The Conclusion took fourth with Rs 4.35 crore net, and the Kannada film Premada Oorali took fifth with Rs 4.10 crore net. The combined net for the five films was Rs 77.45 crore for the weekend.
The gap between the top two films was Rs 5 crore net, a smaller margin than a fresh release might usually expect against a film in its third week. Sacnilk reported that Jailer 2 nearly matched AK 47 on Sunday, and described the contest between the two films as the main feature of a weekend that was otherwise moderate in overall business.
Jailer 2 had reached Rs 456.30 crore net in India after 18 days, and its worldwide gross had crossed Rs 800 crore, according to the same report. Udta Teer had reached Rs 42.10 crore net after 10 days, Drishyam 3: The Conclusion had reached Rs 377.35 crore net after 31 days, and Premada Oorali had reached Rs 110.82 crore net after 38 days. Those totals show how much of the weekend business still came from films that had been in cinemas for weeks.
AK 47 day by day through the weekend
Friday set the base for the film at Rs 9.75 crore net, with India gross of Rs 11.40 crore and overseas gross of Rs 7.60 crore, for a worldwide gross of Rs 19 crore on day one. Occupancy on Friday was 44.1 percent across 3,073 shows, and the film averaged Rs 31,728 per show, according to Sacnilk.
Saturday lifted the film to Rs 10.40 crore net, with India gross rising to Rs 23.60 crore in total and worldwide gross to Rs 34.95 crore. Occupancy rose to 48.1 percent across 3,192 shows. Sunday then took the film to Rs 11.25 crore net, with India gross of Rs 36.85 crore in total and worldwide gross to Rs 50.95 crore, as occupancy reached 52.1 percent across 3,273 shows.
Footfalls reached 21,10,311 by the end of day three, according to Sacnilk. The steady rise in shows, occupancy and daily net across the three days points to audience response building through the weekend rather than falling after an opening day peak. That pattern matters for the film’s second week, when it will face new competition.
What the weekend means for the other films
The next change in the ranking is expected this week. Sacnilk notes that Ramayana: Part One arrives on Thursday 5 November, followed by Suriya’s Scene on Friday 6 November. Both films are expected to take substantial screen space, and AK 47 will face its first test of audience retention in that week.
AK 47 faces the Ramayana week
AK 47 enters its second week with a Rs 31.40 crore net opening weekend and a rising daily trend behind it. The film’s advance booking for Monday 2 November stood at Rs 2.71 crore, including blocked seats, from 1.75 lakh tickets across 3,207 shows, according to Sacnilk. Whether that holding power survives the arrival of Ramayana will decide how far the film runs beyond its opening weekend.
