The fourth matchweek of the Indian Super League 2026-27 produced five fixtures and a fresh list of the Indian players who made the biggest difference. The ISL Matchweek 4 round-up, compiled by Khel Now to track player form ahead of international assignments, rates Jithin MS and P N Noufal at 9 out of 10, with goalkeeper Amrinder Singh next at 8.5. Mohun Bagan lead the standings after the week with nine points.
The ISL Matchweek 4 fixtures opened with NorthEast United and Bengaluru FC drawing 1-1, and the Southern Derby at the Marina Arena also ended level after end-to-end football from both sides. Mohun Bagan then came back from a goal down to score twice in the same half and beat previously unbeaten Punjab FC 2-1. The fourth game produced late drama at the Mumbai Football Arena, where Mumbai City FC gave up a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to SC Delhi, and the week closed with FC Goa beating Inter Kashi 2-1.
ISL Matchweek 4: Jithin and Noufal lead the list
Jithin MS scored for NorthEast United against Bengaluru FC, starting a lightning-quick counterattack and finishing it with a composed left-footed strike. He has been operating at a high level this season and has so far been the best Indian player for the Highlanders, according to the round-up. The ISL Matchweek 4 goal kept NorthEast United in a strong early position, with the club now on eight points, one behind Mohun Bagan.
P N Noufal produced an impressive performance against SC Delhi even though Mumbai City lost the match. He used his pace and trickery to trouble the opposition defence, split the backline with line-breaking passes and registered five key passes. He created both of Mumbai’s goals against Delhi, first teeing up Muhammad Ajsal and then Zothanpuia in the first half.
Goalkeepers and defenders who made a difference
Amrinder Singh produced a man-of-the-match performance against Chennaiyin FC, his best display in Kerala Blasters colours this season. The goalkeeper has kept three clean sheets in four matches so far, and he made six saves in the week, the joint most by any goalkeeper, with four of those saves coming from inside the box. The ISL Matchweek 4 display helped Kerala Blasters secure a point against Chennaiyin FC, and it earned him a second straight man-of-the-match award.
Abdul Rabeeh has found a different role at NorthEast United and made 15 defensive contributions against Bengaluru FC, the most by any defender in the week. The left back won all of his ground duels and made advancing runs forward to link up with the attackers. The ISL Matchweek 4 round-up names Nora Fernandes as the point of difference for SC Delhi against Mumbai City, after six saves, including four from inside the box and one punch out, despite conceding two goals in the first half.
ISL Matchweek 4: late goals change games
The ISL Matchweek 4 late goals shaped the week. Vinith Venkatesh came on in the final minutes for Bengaluru FC in Guwahati when the Blues were trailing NorthEast United, and he scored a stoppage-time equaliser to rescue a point away from home. Akshat Mehra came off the bench for SC Delhi in the 89th minute with his side a goal behind, and it took him just two minutes to score the equaliser and start a comeback against Mumbai City.
Muhammad Ajsal took six minutes to score his second-ever ISL goal for Mumbai City, combining with Noufal, winning the ball in midfield and finishing with a left-footed strike from the centre of the box to put the Islanders ahead. Sumeet Passi scored the equaliser for Inter Kashi against FC Goa with a late run into the box, but it was not enough to stop the Gaurs winning. Zothanpuia scored Mumbai’s second goal against Delhi, arriving in the box at the right time for a calm finish past Nora Fernandes, with a passing accuracy of 85 percent and two shots on target.
At the end of ISL Matchweek 4, Mohun Bagan lead the standings with nine points, with NorthEast United and Bengaluru FC on eight points and Punjab FC close behind on seven. East Bengal have played just two games and won both, and could move to the top if they win their games in hand. Four teams are still searching for their first win, with former champions Mumbai City FC and Chennaiyin FC in the bottom three after four matchweeks.
