NEW DELHI: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has extended the FMGE correction window, giving candidates until 2 PM today, October 23, 2026, to fix deficiencies in their application forms. Candidates can submit missing documents and update images in their applications before the deadline expires.
The board said documents can be submitted only through the Document Scrutiny Portal, while images can be updated only through the Image Scrutiny Portal. Both portals are accessed through the applicant login on the NBEMS website at nbe.edu.in. Candidates must use the right portal for each type of correction, or the submission will not count.
The stakes are high. Candidates who fail to rectify the deficiencies in their applications by the last date prescribed for rectification will be declared ineligible, and no admit card will be issued to them. The board has made it clear that no further opportunity to submit documents or images will be given after the FMGE correction window closes.
Who the FMGE correction window is for
The window is meant for applicants whose forms were flagged during scrutiny for missing documents or defective images. Rather than rejecting these applications outright, the board has given candidates a final chance to bring their forms up to the required standard.
The process runs entirely online. Candidates must log in to their applicant accounts on nbe.edu.in and navigate to the Document Scrutiny Portal for document uploads or the Image Scrutiny Portal for image corrections. The board's notification draws a hard line between the two: documents submitted through the image portal, or images through the document portal, will not be accepted.
Candidates should check every field before the deadline. A photograph that does not meet the prescribed specifications, a signature image that is unclear, or a missing certificate can each lead to ineligibility. The FMGE correction window is the last point at which any of these can be fixed.
What happens after the FMGE correction window closes
Once the FMGE correction window closes at 2 PM, the board will finalise the list of eligible candidates. Admit cards will be available for download from October 27, 2026, but only for candidates who cleared scrutiny. Those declared ineligible will receive no admit card and cannot sit for the examination.
The FMGE October 2026 examination is scheduled for October 31, 2026. It is the screening test for Indian citizens and overseas citizens of India who hold foreign medical qualifications and wish to practise medicine in India. Clearing it is mandatory before registration with the National Medical Commission or a state medical council.
The city intimation slip was already issued on October 20, 2026. Candidates who applied for the exam can check their allotted exam city and make travel and stay arrangements in advance. The exact exam centre will be mentioned only on the admit card, which will be issued next week. Students must download and keep a copy of the admit card to produce at the exam centre on the day of the examination.
Why the FMGE correction window matters
A missed document or a faulty photograph can cost a candidate an entire attempt. The FMGE is held twice a year, and losing a session means months of waiting before the next opportunity. For foreign medical graduates, the delay can push back registration, internships and the start of clinical practice.
The board's scrutiny system is strict by design. Application forms are checked against a detailed list of required documents and image specifications, and anything that falls short is flagged. The FMGE correction window exists precisely because small, fixable errors should not end a candidacy.
Medical education consultants routinely advise candidates to treat the correction window as a hard deadline rather than a soft one. Portal traffic spikes in the final hours, and technical glitches close to 2 PM could leave an upload incomplete. Candidates who finish early avoid that risk.
The FMGE correction window closes at 2 PM today, October 23, 2026, on the NBEMS website at nbe.edu.in.
