Ramayana has held its ground at the box office on its second day, taking the film’s worldwide total to an estimated Rs 221 crore.

Trade reports say the Nitesh Tiwari-directed film collected around Rs 87 crore worldwide on Friday, 7 November, after an opening-day worldwide gross of about Rs 134 crore.

The Rs 221 crore figure remains an estimate, with the production team yet to confirm the final numbers.

Day-two collections hold firm

Early trade estimates put day two at Rs 87 crore worldwide. Trade tracker Sacnilk reported a slightly lower Rs 85.75 crore for the day.

On day one, the film had collected roughly Rs 73 crore net in India and Rs 134 crore worldwide. The reported gross share points to a strong overseas contribution as well as solid domestic momentum.

According to trade estimates, the Hindi version earned about Rs 21.26 crore net in India on day two, taking its two-day domestic net in Hindi to Rs 59.01 crore.

Occupancy and premium formats lead

The Hindi version recorded overall occupancy of around 34.11% on Friday. Morning shows stood at 16.78%, afternoon shows at 29.28%, evening shows at 39.03% and night shows at 51.33%.

Premium formats made up a large share of the opening-day business. IMAX screens contributed Rs 10.2 crore, 4DX screens Rs 5.55 crore and D-Box screens Rs 95 lakh.

The film released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, with the Hindi version leading the collections.

Strong start against a huge budget

Ramayana has opened strongly against a reported production budget of about Rs 4,000 crore, with the first instalment accounting for roughly Rs 2,000 crore of that figure.

The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Yash as Ravana and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, with Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor also part of the cast. The film is the first of a two-part adaptation, and the second part is scheduled for release in 2027.
