Meagan Good is taking on the most commanding role of her career. The actress has joined Hulu’s legal drama Reasonable Doubt as Regina Harris, the new district attorney, and she says the part is finally breaking her out of what she calls the pretty box that has defined her screen image for years. Meagan Good told The Hollywood Reporter that she pursued the role because she wanted to work with series creator Raamla Mohamed Hunter and star Emayatzy Corinealdi, and because the character lets her show a side of herself that audiences rarely see.
Reasonable Doubt is now in its fourth season, which premiered on October 6, 2026, with three episodes before new installments roll out every Tuesday. The series centers on Jax Stewart, a brilliant Los Angeles defense attorney played by Corinealdi, who has built her reputation in the morally gray areas of the justice system. The season picks up after a cliff-hanger that left Jax’s family and her newly minted law firm shaken by a brutal attack.
Good’s arrival as Regina Harris injects a powerful new authority figure into Jax’s world. For Meagan Good, the prosecutor also represents a deliberate career pivot: Regina’s authority comes from intellect and courtroom command rather than appearance, giving the actress the kind of showcase she has been seeking for years.
The new season has also introduced Eric, a super-wealthy R&B artist and longtime client of Jax’s firm, adding another high-stakes case to a run already defined by fallout around The Stewart Firm. With Jax’s family still reeling from the season-opening attack, Regina Harris arrives at a moment of maximum tension for the defense attorney.
Meagan Good Breaks Out of the Pretty Box
Good has been candid about being typecast for her looks throughout a career that began in childhood. Mohamed Hunter said she pushed for the casting after watching Good on Harlem, where she saw a lighter, different side of the performer. The creator added that Good brings a range many viewers have not seen, and that she is killing the show.
“The only other thing I would have been besides an actress, is a lawyer,” Good said, explaining why the district attorney role felt like a natural fit. “So this is fun for me, because I’ve never gotten a chance to play something like this. It’s nice to be in a place in my life where I’m able to expand as an actress and be seen in different ways.”
What Meagan Good Learned From Jonathan Majors
Good also opened up about what she has learned about acting from her husband, actor Jonathan Majors. Meagan Good said the couple talks constantly about craft, and that Majors, known for his intense preparation and technique, has become a sounding board as she takes on roles that demand greater emotional range.
Good stood by Majors during his highly publicized 2023 trial in New York, where he was convicted of assault and harassment of his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The couple married last year. Good has previously said her support was not conditional, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “If you know someone and if you believe in someone, it’s not conditional.”
Meagan Good Joins a Season 4 Cast on the Rise
Season 4 has expanded its ensemble well beyond Meagan Good’s arrival. Morris Chestnut is back, and new faces include Durrell Tank Babbs, La La Anthony and Taylor Polidore Williams, joining a series that keeps Jax at the center as the lawyer clients turn to when the stakes are highest. The show is largely filmed in Atlanta, where the Los Angeles-set drama stages its courtroom battles.
With Regina Harris now on the scene, the series gains a new lens on the justice system from the prosecution side, and for Meagan Good, Regina Harris already marks the kind of challenge she has been waiting for.
Reasonable Doubt streams on Hulu, with new episodes of season four arriving each Tuesday. For viewers who have followed Good since her early roles, Regina Harris is less a departure than a long-awaited arrival.
