Sardar 2 has taken a modest start in advance booking, collecting around Rs 24 lakh on its first day of pre-sales. Trade tracker Sacnilk reported the numbers on October 22, a day before the film’s release in Tamil Nadu.

The Karthi-starrer opens on October 23, and the early numbers reflect steady interest from the star’s core audience. The film is the sequel to the 2022 spy thriller Sardar, which was a commercial success.

Sardar 2 advance booking: Tamil Nadu leads pre-sales

Tamil Nadu accounts for the bulk of the advance sales, as expected for a Karthi-led Tamil release. The makers have positioned the film as a big Diwali-season attraction, and trade watchers expect the numbers to pick up through the day as more shows are added.

Industry trackers say the Rs 24 lakh figure covers reported shows across major circuits, with single screens and multiplexes both contributing. Final pre-release numbers are expected to be higher once the full day’s sales are tallied.

Sardar 2 cast and story: what to expect

Directed by P.S. Mithran, Sardar 2 brings back Karthi in a double role as a spy and his son. The film also stars S.J. Suryah, Malavika Mohanan and Rajisha Vijayan in key roles, with Yuvan Shankar Raja composing the music.

The sequel picks up the story of the first film, blending espionage action with a patriotic theme. The trailer, released earlier this month, has drawn a positive response from fans of the original.

Sardar 2 box office outlook for opening weekend

Trade analysts say the opening will depend heavily on word of mouth, as the advance booking window has been short. The film faces competition from other festive releases, but Karthi’s track record with sequels gives the trade reason for optimism.

With the release coinciding with the holiday period, exhibitors are hoping for strong family footfalls over the weekend. The makers have planned aggressive promotions in Tamil Nadu in the run-up to release.
