Homegrown smartphone maker Lava has launched the Lava Aura Curve 5G in India, priced at Rs 23,999 for its single 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. Announced on October 22, the mid-premium handset pairs a 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display with a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor and a 6,000mAh battery.

The Lava Aura Curve 5G is available in Ambar Blue and Him Silver through Lava’s offline stores. Ambar Blue and Him Silver are the two finishes, both paired with the vegan leather back. Every buyer also gets the company’s Free Service @ Home programme, which provides doorstep after-sales support across India.

The Lava Aura Curve 5G combines a 3D curved front panel with a vegan leather back. A pill-shaped mini screen on the rear shows notifications, battery status and custom messages, and it also handles music controls. The rear mini screen is itself an AMOLED unit. For now, Lava has listed only the single memory variant and the two colour options.

The Lava Aura Curve 5G ships in one variant with 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, and the memory can be expanded by up to 6GB through virtual RAM. The handset is designed exclusively for the offline market, and Lava said it will not be sold through e-commerce platforms.

Lava Aura Curve 5G specifications

The display on the Lava Aura Curve 5G is a 6.67-inch FHD+ 3D curved AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,100 nits of peak brightness and 1,920Hz PWM dimming. High-brightness mode reaches 800 nits. It is protected by Al-Si DT Star 2 cover glass, while the body carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance and MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification.

The Lava Aura Curve 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset, an octa-core processor built on a 6nm process with a Mali-G610 GPU. For photography, it carries a 50MP Sony IMX752 primary camera with electronic image stabilisation and 2K video recording, alongside a 13MP front camera for selfies and video calls. The camera app includes Night Mode, Pro Video, Dual-View Video, Motion Photo and Sports Mode.

The phone packs a 6,000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging, though the charger included in the box is rated at 33W. Other hardware includes an infrared blaster, dual stereo speakers, dual-microphone noise cancellation and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It supports dual nano SIM cards, and connectivity options cover 5G, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. The phone measures 162.26 x 73.51 x 8.55mm and weighs 184g.

On the software front, the Lava Aura Curve 5G runs Android 16 with Lava’s Vayu AI features. The interface runs clean Android with zero bloatware, according to GSMArena. The company says the phone ships without pre-installed apps or ads and will receive two years of OS upgrades and three years of security updates. That update commitment applies to the single 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant now on sale.

Why the phone is offline-only

The Lava Aura Curve 5G arrives weeks after the Virat Curve 5G, which went on sale through Flipkart on September 28 with the same chipset, screen size, battery, camera and rear mini screen, according to Gadgets Now. Gadgets Now called it the Virat Curve’s hardware brought to shop counters. The new Aura series is aimed at buyers spending above Rs 20,000 who prefer to shop in physical stores.

“The Aura series is designed for our offline consumers who seek an ultra-premium experience at affordable price-points,” said Sumit Singh, Senior Vice President and Head of Product at Lava International. “The mini screen lets users express their identity through custom texts such as their name or how they feel in the moment,” he added. “Marking several firsts in its category, this device is a strong proposition for buyers and will be an ideal choice for festive gifting.”

Gadgets Now noted that offline retail now handles 58.1 per cent of India’s smartphone shipments, citing IDC data. The phone went on sale through Lava’s offline retail partner network across India following the October 22 announcement.
