Mumbai, 29 October 2026: Earnings season reaches one of its busiest days on Thursday, with a crowded slate of BSE 500 companies due to report results for the September quarter. Reuters’ diary for the BSE 500 shows results due from Coal India, Asian Paints, InterGlobe Aviation, Ambuja Cements and Godrej Consumer Products, among many others, according to Finimize’s summary of the diary. The standout detail is timing: most entries are marked “no time scheduled”, meaning announcements can land at any point in the day rather than in a predictable pre-market or after-market slot.
That lack of a fixed slot matters for trading. When investors cannot tell when price-sensitive news will drop, market makers often scale back activity, and prices can jump more sharply when updates finally land. One company, Timken India, is tagged “AMC”, or after market close, giving traders at least one clearly signposted window. For the rest, the day’s market story is likely to come from a patchwork of sector-by-sector surprises rather than a single headline number.
The Thursday list is long. Alongside the headline names, results are due from Trent, Suzlon Energy, Blue Star, Brigade Enterprises, Computer Age Management Services, Firstsource Solutions, ICRA, India Energy Exchange, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, Pine Labs and Titagarh Rail Systems, according to an Upstox earnings calendar.
Earnings focus on aviation and consumer names
InterGlobe Aviation, which operates IndiGo, is one of the most watched reports of the day. The airline will announce September quarter earnings on 29 October, at a time when aviation turbine fuel costs have risen sharply. Fuel accounts for about 40 percent of an airline’s operating costs, and fuel prices have risen nearly 25 percent over the last three months, according to Upstox. Revenue is expected to rise 27 to 30 percent year on year to between 23,500 crore rupees and 24,200 crore rupees, mainly on higher airfares during the quarter.
That revenue range would still be 2 to 4 percent below the previous quarter, when IndiGo reported net sales of 24,584 crore rupees. In the September quarter of financial year 2025-26, net sales were 18,555 crore rupees. On profit, IndiGo could swing to a net profit of 510 crore rupees to 580 crore rupees, against a consolidated net loss of 2,582 crore rupees in the same quarter last year and a loss of 238 crore rupees in the first quarter of financial year 2026-27. Investors will also look for management commentary under new chief executive Willie Walsh, who took charge on 3 August, succeeding Pieter Elbers.
IndiGo shares closed 2 percent higher at 4,690 rupees on Wednesday, 28 October, ahead of the results. So far this calendar year, the shares are down over 7 percent. The announcement comes a day after Air India Group’s first quarter loss was reported to have widened past 6,000 crore rupees.
Earnings tests for paints, cement and coal
Asian Paints, Ambuja Cements and Coal India give the day its industrial and materials flavour. Asian Paints closed at 2,284.60 rupees on 28 October, up 0.33 percent. Its results will be read for decorative paint demand, dealer restocking ahead of the festive season and raw material costs. Coal India closed at 392.90 rupees on 28 October, down 1.45 percent, after a previous close of 398.70 rupees. Its numbers will show production, offtake and realisations for the country’s largest coal miner.
Godrej Consumer Products and Trent bring the consumer side of the diary. Godrej Consumer results will be watched for volume growth and margin pressure in home and personal care, the same themes that ran through Hindustan Unilever’s results a day earlier. Trent, the Tata Group retailer behind Westside and Zudio, will be read for store expansion and same-store sales growth.
How earnings timing shapes Thursday trading
The “no time scheduled” tag deserves attention from anyone trading on earnings day. In India, many companies report after market hours, but the Reuters diary shows no slot has been fixed for most of Thursday’s names. An earnings announcement that lands mid-session can move a stock immediately, while an earnings release after the close moves the stock at the next open. Traders holding positions overnight therefore carry gap risk.
By the end of Thursday, the September quarter picture for large companies will be much fuller. Coal India, Asian Paints, IndiGo, Ambuja Cements and Godrej Consumer are only the headline names in a diary that spans energy, materials, aviation, retail, financial services and renewables. The earnings will feed into index moves, analyst revisions and the next round of expectations, and the lack of fixed timings means the market will absorb them in bursts through the day rather than in one orderly wave.
