Tu Hai Meri Kiran will release in cinemas on October 23 as planned, producers Vishal Rana and Sarvesh Goel confirmed on October 22. The Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal film was briefly held back by the Bombay High Court over an Rs 8.85 crore financial dispute between its producers. According to the producers, the matter has now been settled internally, ending days of uncertainty around the release.

The court had passed an interim order on October 19 under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act. The order came after co-producer AND Movie Products LLP approached the court, and it restrained the theatrical release of Tu Hai Meri Kiran until co-producer Echelon Productions deposited Rs 8.85 crore, with 15 per cent interest, as security before the film’s release. The producers’ statement on October 22 said the issues had been sorted out between the parties, clearing the way for the film to reach theatres on its announced date.

In its plea, AND Movie said it had invested Rs 8.85 crore in the film under a co-production agreement signed in March 2024. It alleged that Echelon failed to return the money within the agreed time and that a cheque issued for the payment was dishonoured. Echelon argued that AND Movie had agreed to the film’s release by taking part in its promotional posts on Instagram. The court rejected that argument, holding that promoting a film on social media does not amount to giving up financial claims or rights over its release and distribution.

Tu Hai Meri Kiran legal dispute resolved by producers

Producer Vishal Rana said in a statement: “There were certain matters that needed to be addressed, and I am glad that we have been able to resolve them internally. Everything is now sorted, and we are moving ahead with the release of Tu Hai Meri Kiran as planned on 23rd October. Our focus has always been on bringing the film to audiences, and we look forward to its theatrical release tomorrow.”

Producer Sarvesh Goel added: “There have been reports surrounding the film, but I would like to clarify that the matter has been resolved internally.”

The statements were issued a day after the court’s interim order had put the film’s release in doubt. With the dispute settled, the makers confirmed that no further legal hurdles stand in the way of the film opening in theatres.

The dispute had surfaced publicly only days before the release, when trade outlets reported the court’s interim order on October 20. With promotional activity already underway, the order raised questions over whether the film would hold its date. The producers’ statement on October 22 put an end to that speculation. They did not share details of the settlement terms.

Bombay High Court order on Tu Hai Meri Kiran

Justice Amit Borkar, who heard the matter, had directed the production house to deposit the Rs 8.85 crore with 15 per cent interest within three working days as security before releasing the film. The production house was also asked to share details of all agreements with third parties related to the film’s release and distribution. The court further ordered that producer credits be restored as agreed within 48 hours.

The order made it clear that a co-producer’s participation in a film’s marketing activity cannot be treated as consent to release when financial claims remain unresolved. That finding formed the basis of the restraint on the film until the deposit was arranged, which is why the Tu Hai Meri Kiran release date stayed uncertain until the settlement was announced.

Tu Hai Meri Kiran cast and story

Tu Hai Meri Kiran is directed and written by Karan Rawal. The film blends romance, mystery and suspense, and explores complicated relationships and one-sided love, according to Hindustan Times. The cast includes Ankit Gupta, Sherlin Seth, Zarina Wahab and Purnendu Bhattacharya alongside Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, who play the lead pair in the film.

The film is presented by Echelon Productions and AND Productions. With the legal dispute behind it, Tu Hai Meri Kiran will now release in cinemas on October 23, as originally announced.
