Bajaj Auto reported a 35.2 per cent rise in standalone profit after tax to Rs 3,353.76 crore for the second quarter of financial year 2026-27, the company said on 27 October 2026. The profit in the same quarter last year was Rs 2,479.74 crore. The result covered the three months ended 30 September 2026. Bajaj Auto is one of India’s largest makers of two wheelers and three wheelers, and its results are watched as a guide to demand for motorcycles, scooters and commercial vehicles.

Standalone revenue from operations rose 34 per cent year on year to Rs 20,003.43 crore, from Rs 14,922.05 crore in the second quarter of financial year 2025-26. The company crossed Rs 20,000 crore in quarterly standalone revenue for the first time. Profit before tax rose 35.3 per cent to Rs 4,457.49 crore. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, known as EBITDA, rose 37 per cent to Rs 4,172 crore, from Rs 3,052 crore a year earlier. The EBITDA margin widened by 40 basis points to 20.9 per cent.

On a consolidated basis, which includes group companies, Bajaj Auto reported revenue of Rs 25,125.56 crore and net profit of Rs 3,436.10 crore for the quarter. The consolidated figures include the financing arm Bajaj Auto Credit and overseas mobility investments. The gap between the standalone and consolidated figures reflects the size of those group businesses, which add revenue and profit beyond the core vehicle making business in India.

Bajaj Auto volumes rise 20% in quarter

The company sold 1.55 million vehicles during the quarter, a rise of 20 per cent year on year. Domestic demand and exports both contributed to the rise. The company said domestic revenue rose 30 per cent year on year. Exports also rose sharply, with export volumes up 41 per cent, according to reports on the results. The rise in volumes helped revenue grow faster than costs in some parts of the business, which supported the margin gain.

The commercial vehicle business also reported growth. Domestic commercial vehicle volumes reached 162,940 units, a rise of 13 per cent year on year, which the company described as a record for the segment. Sales and revenue from electric three wheelers in the L5 category more than doubled during the quarter. The Riki electric rickshaw expanded its presence to about 185 cities, which widened its reach in the lithium ion L3 segment. Those gains show that electric models are now a larger part of the commercial vehicle business than they were a year earlier.

Bajaj Auto electric sales gain pace

Electric vehicles were a clear driver of growth for Bajaj Auto in the quarter. The company said electric models accounted for about one third of domestic sales revenue. The Chetak electric scooter range recorded its best quarter to date, with volumes more than doubling to nearly 200,000 units, from 82,000 units in the second quarter of financial year 2025-26. Revenue from Chetak crossed Rs 2,000 crore in the quarter, even though supply chain limits remained a factor for the industry.

Premium motorcycles also contributed to growth. Bajaj Auto has expanded its premium motorcycle range in recent years, and that range now sits alongside its mass market motorcycles and its electric scooters. The mix of premium motorcycles, electric scooters and commercial vehicles gave the company more than one source of growth in the quarter. That mix also matters for margins, since premium and electric models often carry different price points and cost structures from entry level motorcycles.

What Bajaj Auto results show about demand

The results point to demand that held up across domestic and export markets in the July to September quarter. Domestic revenue growth of 30 per cent and a sharp rise in exports suggest that buyers in India and abroad both bought more vehicles than a year earlier. The quarter covered the period before the main festive season, when vehicle sales in India often rise. Investors will watch the next quarter to see whether festive demand adds to the growth seen in the second quarter.

For Bajaj Auto, the test in the coming quarters will be whether margins hold as competition in electric two wheelers rises. New entrants and established rivals are both expanding electric ranges, which can put pressure on prices and marketing costs. In the second quarter, Bajaj Auto managed to raise revenue by 34 per cent and profit by 35.2 per cent while expanding electric volumes. The company ended the quarter with standalone profit of Rs 3,353.76 crore and standalone revenue of Rs 20,003.43 crore.
