Production on Pluribus is scheduled to move into its next phase on October 31, 2026, when filming for the second season is reported to begin in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The schedule was published by Production List, a listing service run by the Film and Television Industry Alliance, which described the series as being in pre-production. Apple TV has not issued a separate public announcement confirming the start date, so the October 31 date remains a reported production schedule rather than a date confirmed by the streamer itself.

The report arrived almost a year after the first season premiered in November 2025. Apple ordered two seasons when it first announced Pluribus, which gave the production team a clear path to a second run before viewers had seen a single episode. Vince Gilligan created the series and works as its showrunner and executive producer. Rhea Seehorn, who worked with Gilligan on Better Call Saul, stars as Carol Sturka, a romantasy author who is one of only a small group of people left unaffected when most of humanity is drawn into a single shared consciousness.

Pluribus returns to Albuquerque

Albuquerque is a familiar base for Gilligan. He filmed Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul in the city, and the first season of Pluribus was also shot there. Production List names ABQ Studios, formerly known as Albuquerque Studios, among the facilities that have hosted his work. The listing for the second season names High Bridge Productions, Gilligan’s company, and Bristol Circle Entertainment as production companies, with Sony Pictures Television as the studio. Apple TV holds the rights to the series.

The return to New Mexico fits comments made by members of the cast in October. Seehorn told Deadline at an Academy Museum event on October 19 that she was leaving very soon to shoot the second season. She said she had read the first script and described it in plain terms as wild in scope, while adding that Gilligan was taking time to make sure the new episodes met the standard set by the first season. Karolina Wydra, who plays Zosia, a member of the joined population assigned to contact Carol, told The Hollywood Reporter that filming would start very soon.

Pluribus writing and scripts so far

Gilligan spoke about the writing in September, after Pluribus had earned awards attention. He said the writers had mapped out the story for the whole second season and had finished the first two scripts. The remaining episodes were at different stages of development at that point. He also said filming was expected to begin in late October or early November, a window that matches the reported October 31 start.

Gordon Smith and Alison Tatlock return as executive producers alongside Gilligan, according to Production List. Smith worked with Gilligan on Better Call Saul, and Tatlock has been part of the writing and producing team on Pluribus. The listing also names Diane Mercer among the executive producers. Keeping that team in place gives the second season continuity behind the camera, since the first season depended heavily on a small writing group and on Seehorn carrying long stretches of screen time alone or opposite members of the joined population.

The first season earned six Emmy awards, according to The World Insiders. Seehorn received the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Gilligan won Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. Those wins came after a first season that critics discussed for its slow pace and its focus on character over plot mechanics. The show asks what happens to a person who refuses a form of happiness offered to everyone else, and it leaves the wider mystery of the joining largely unsolved at the end of its nine episodes.

No Pluribus release date yet

Apple has not announced a premiere date or a release window for Pluribus. That gap is normal at this stage, since a premiere date usually follows filming and post-production rather than preceding it. The first season took shape over a long production period, and the second season will need time for shooting in Albuquerque, editing, visual effects and sound work before any date can be set with confidence.

For now, the firmest public facts are the reported filming date, the Albuquerque location, the returning creator and star, and the state of the scripts as described by Gilligan in September. Apple has given no premiere date, and no trailer or episode titles for Pluribus have been released.
