Yash Raj Films is placing a fresh bet on romance from 2027, with a slate of love stories led by Ali Abbas Zafar, Mohit Suri and Maneesh Sharma. Pinkvilla reported the plan exclusively on 30 October 2026, after the success of Saiyaara gave the studio a hit musical romance. Aditya Chopra, who heads the studio, is said to be driving the push, with music at the centre of each project.
Yash Raj Films has several romantic projects in development, according to the Pinkvilla report. Each film treats romance in a different setting, and composition work is already under way across the slate. The report also points to a big-ticket romantic film in development, expected to go on floors in summer 2027, with details still under wraps.
Yash Raj Films and the Ali Abbas Zafar romance
Ali Abbas Zafar directs Ahaan Panday and Sharvari in an intense musical romance set against the backdrop of the gangster world, Pinkvilla reported. The film is Beparwah, which Yash Raj Films announced on 26 October 2026 with a first poster and the tagline “Fearless in love”. It is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 26 March 2027, which the studio timed exactly five months after the announcement.
Beparwah pairs Ahaan Panday and Sharvari on screen for the first time. Ahaan Panday made his acting debut in Saiyaara, the Yash Raj Films musical romance directed by Mohit Suri, in which he starred opposite Aneet Padda. Sharvari broke out with Munjya and appeared in Vedaa, and Beparwah is her fourth project with the studio after Bunty Aur Babli 2, Maharaj and Alpha. Bobby Deol appears in a supporting part, and Aaishvary Thackeray plays the antagonist.
The film also marks Ali Abbas Zafar’s return to Yash Raj Films after Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai, both starring Salman Khan. Zafar and Aditya Chopra co-wrote the screenplay, making Beparwah the fifth collaboration between the director and the producer after Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Gunday, Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. Much of the film was shot in the United Kingdom, while the story is set in India.
Yash Raj Films brings back the Saiyaara pairing
Mohit Suri is bringing back the Saiyaara pairing of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda for Yash Raj Films. Pinkvilla reported that Suri is working on a young yet intense romantic film set against a college backdrop. Variety India reported separately that the second film from Panday and Padda has begun filming, with the shoot expected to move to Goa and wrap by the end of the year, and a 2027 theatrical release in view.
The Suri film is backed by Akshaye Widhani through Yash Raj Films, according to Variety India. The studio has not officially announced a title for it, although the name Satranga has been linked to the project in reports. The film is described as a mature romantic drama, and it follows Saiyaara, which became one of the biggest Hindi hits of 2025 and the highest-grossing Indian love story, earning more than 65 million dollars worldwide.
Yash Raj Films and the Punjab romance from Maneesh Sharma
Maneesh Sharma is teaming up with Ambrish Varma and Sara Arjun for a rooted romantic saga set in Punjab, Pinkvilla reported. The film will explore love against a backdrop of music and the region’s cultural life, keeping with the slate’s emphasis on songs. Sharma has directed for the studio before, and the Punjab setting gives the slate a story rooted outside the metropolitan romances that dominate Hindi cinema.
The remaining project in the report is a big-ticket romantic film expected to go on floors in summer 2027. Pinkvilla reported that it could be a romantic triangle involving one actor and two actresses, although the studio has not confirmed casting or a director for it. Music is the common thread across all four projects, with composition work already under way, and the studio is counting on songs to carry the romance slate as Saiyaara’s music did.
Beparwah was announced on 26 October 2026 for release on 26 March 2027.
