Consumers should not buy or serve Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bars, the United States Food and Drug Administration said on 30 October 2026, after reports of toddlers suffering complete airway obstruction. The agency described Tractor Wheels as a potentially fatal choking hazard. The warning covers all flavours, quantities and varieties, including all lot codes and expiration dates. The agency said it has informed the firm of the reports and has recommended that the firm recall the product.

Once Upon a Farm announced a voluntary recall of its Tractor Wheels soft baked bars on the same day, and said it will reformulate the product. The company said the decision was based on three consumer complaints, and that no other Once Upon a Farm products are affected by the recall. Consumers who bought Tractor Wheels should not open the package or use the contents, the company said. They should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund, or contact care@uponafarm.com. The agency advice is to throw the product away at once.

What the Tractor reports describe

The agency said it has received several reports that describe toddlers aged 1.5 to 2.5 years suffering complete airway obstruction, with an inability to breathe, after consuming the product. When chewed, the product reportedly forms a dry, sticky mass. Standard choking interventions, including back blows and the Heimlich manoeuvre, may fail to dislodge that mass, the agency said. Some reported choking incidents have required emergency response intervention and hospital observation.

The age range in the reports is narrow, and it matches the age group the product is sold for. The agency did not, in its advisory, give a total number of incidents beyond describing several reports, while the company put the number of consumer complaints behind its recall decision at three. Both point to the same hazard, a mass that can block the airway and resist standard first aid measures.

The advisory does not describe a contamination problem or an allergen problem. It describes a physical hazard linked to the texture of the product when chewed. That distinction matters for parents checking a pantry: the warning is not limited to one batch, one flavour or one date. It applies to every bar in the range, whatever the flavour, quantity, variety, lot code or expiration date printed on the pack.

Which Tractor flavours are covered

The Tractor recall lists three flavours. They are Apple, Sweet Potato, and Spinach; Strawberry, Pumpkin, and Beet; and Banana, Pumpkin, and Cauliflower. All three are covered by the agency warning, along with any other variety of the product. The warning applies to all quantities, so a single pack and a multipack are both covered. Retailers should not sell the product, under the agency advice, and consumers should not buy it or serve it.

The company said it is working with the Food and Drug Administration to make sure affected products are removed and that families have the information they need. Tractor Wheels will be reformulated, the company said, but no date for a reformulated version has been published in the recall announcement, and no reformulated version is covered by the current warning. Parents who find the bars at home face two instructions that lead to the same outcome: do not serve them. The agency says to throw the product away immediately, while the company says to return it for a full refund or to contact the company by email.

Tractor recall and what happens next

The agency said it will continue to update its advisory as information becomes available. That means the scope of the recall, the list of stores involved or the incident count could change as more information arrives. For now, the advice is broad and unconditional: every flavour, quantity and variety, every lot code and every expiration date. The recall also raises a wider question for toddler snack products, about how a soft baked bar behaves when a young child chews it.

The agency advisory focuses on this product and these reports, and it does not extend the warning to other Once Upon a Farm products. The company stated that no other products are affected. The reformulation plan, when it is published, will show what changes the company makes before any new version returns to sale. Until then, do not buy Tractor Wheels, do not serve them, and do not keep a pack in the hope that a particular flavour or date is exempt.
