Nine new movies and shows arrive on streaming platforms for the Diwali weekend, with Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, SonyLIV and ZEE5 all adding fresh titles between 4 and 6 November. The OTT releases Diwali line-up runs from a Muhammad Ali series to a Malayalam action thriller, a Hindi family drama and the second season of a British spy show.
The week opened with two titles on Tuesday 4 November. The Greatest, an eight-episode limited series based on the life of boxer Muhammad Ali, premiered on Prime Video. Blind Game, a Hindi title, arrived on ZEE5 the same day.
OTT releases Diwali on Netflix
Netflix has the busiest slate of the weekend, with three titles. Dilwali Diwali, a Hindi family drama directed by Ritesh Menon, arrived on Wednesday 5 November. The film follows a young man, played by Mihir Ahuja, who returns home for the festival of lights, with Manoj Pahwa and Neelu Kohli in the cast. It is produced by Terribly Tiny Tales.
Black Doves season two, the British spy thriller, also arrived on Netflix on 5 November. The OTT releases Diwali list on Netflix closes on Friday 6 November with Possible Love, a South Korean drama, and Under Siege, which joins the platform the same day.
Netflix is also carrying A Dog’s Perfect Christmas, which arrived on 4 November, and the animated title Bass Machina, which arrived on 3 November, but the nine-title Diwali weekend list is led by the five titles above.
OTT releases Diwali on JioHotstar and SonyLIV
JioHotstar’s big title of the week is I’m Game, which starts streaming on Friday 6 November. Dulquer Salmaan stars as Dan John in the Malayalam action thriller, directed by Nahas Hidayath. The film is one of the most awaited regional titles of the Diwali weekend.
SonyLIV adds Haiwaan to the OTT releases Diwali list on 6 November, a Hindi crime thriller that brings Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together. Saif plays a blind caretaker and martial artist who protects a young girl from Akshay’s character. ZEE5 adds Nooru Kodi Vaanavil on 6 November, alongside Blind Game from earlier in the week.
The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest, the folklore thriller starring Tamannaah Bhatia and Sidharth Malhotra, has been reported as a possible Prime Video rental release around 5 or 6 November, but the makers have not confirmed a streaming date, so it sits outside the nine confirmed titles. Reports suggest a possible rental release around 5 or 6 November, but viewers should wait for an official announcement before paying for a rental.
The OTT releases Diwali line-up is spread across the week rather than landing on a single day, which suits viewers who want to space the watching out. Prime Video and ZEE5 opened the week on Tuesday, Netflix carried Wednesday, and Friday brings the two most awaited Indian titles in I’m Game and Haiwaan. The spread also means the weekend itself has something new on each of the three days.
OTT releases Diwali: the rest of the list
The nine titles in full are The Greatest on Prime Video, Blind Game on ZEE5, Black Doves season two on Netflix, Dilwali Diwali on Netflix, Haiwaan on SonyLIV, I’m Game on JioHotstar, Possible Love on Netflix, Nooru Kodi Vaanavil on ZEE5 and Under Siege on Netflix. For viewers staying home, the choice comes down to mood.
